Yee-ha, red lacey cardi, and guest!

Cowboy style boots from Next! Not sure I like them on the top of skinnies, but I'm loving the look of them under bootlegs.

I will take a picture next time I'm wearing them that way round!

I popped into M&S to get a new sports bra last week, only to discover they had their sale on - actually I wouldn't have gone near the place if I'd have realised!

This little red cardi jumped out at me - Per Una, £7 - I thought I couldn't really go wrong!

The belt was a sudden flash of inspiration as I was leaving the house this morning - it was a pain every time I went to the loo, but added a bit of detail to the outfit, I felt. Let me know what you think!

back view!

And a special guest appearance from my beautiful Rhian!

Thirteen years old, and ready to party!

The little dress was a TK Maxx find - does anyone else find TK Maxx difficult to shop in? It's a bit like a jumble sale, and I tend to find stuff more by luck than judgement!

I have managed to find several combat tops and trousers recently, and this jumped out at me while I was there!

Definitively.....

I posted a comment on one of Imogen's posts, and she came back to me and said, from the photos on my blog, and the fact I can pull of a wrap dress, she would say I'm an "I" (boyish!).

Sorted then!

Actually....

I've read a bit further - I think I may be a "V" shape - I've just had the tape measure out, and my shoulders are 15 inches across, and my hips are 13 (as I look in the mirror, that's not measuring half way round!)

But I'm puzzled, as I don't look good in a halternecks generally - perhaps that's because I need to wear something wider on my hips to balance my shoulders out, and when I've tried halternecks in the past I've worn them with slim fitting clothes around my hips?

New Favourite Blog

Imogen is an Australian Image Consultant - with tons of fantastic advice on her blog about dressing different body shapes!

I think I'm an "H" shape (rectangle), or an "I" shape (boyish)- I can't quite decide! I think alot of it hinges on my shoulders and whether they are wider than my hips! I'm leaning more towards H I think - which mentions short waisted and longer legged, which I definitely am!

What do you think?

Red!

This was an outfit from the end of last week - I've got this lovely red belt (just £3 from tesco!), but it just made my shirt stick out if I wore it at my actual waist, so I tried it further down.

I did actually wear it like this all day, and it's only now I'm looking at the photo I realise it makes me look like I've got very short legs! (I was wearing ballet pumps, which probably worsened the situation!)

Friday, obviously, was red nose day, and we had a red-themed dress down day at work. I managed to make it to my birthday without buying (well, virtually!) anything (my lipsy dress and the belt may have slipped through the net!), so last week I went on the hunt for some "boyfriend" jeans!

It was far harder than I thought - the trouble I have is that my legs are actually quite long, and I generally need a "long" to avoid the ankle flapper look. After all my hard work last year I am now a size 8 (! amazed even myself lol!), and trying to find a size 8, long, is more difficult than I anticipated!

I started with my usual jeans purchase place, Next. They had 2 pairs. One pair were quite nice, but the size 8 was tiny! (I've already got 4 pairs of Next size 8 jeans, so I'm assuming these were just an odd cut!), and they didn't have a 10 long. The other pair fitted beautifully, but were designed with what looked like grass stains on the knees! Why on earth would I want to buy a pair of jeans that would always look like they needed a wash! (or is that just me sounding my age?!).

I moved onto Outfit, who didn't have anything at all in a boyfriend cut.

(I should point out now, I think, that I was trying to squeeze this shopping in between work and school run, so my shopping options were limited!).

Last week I tried on some super "slouch" jeans in Tesco, but of course, this week when I went back they didn't have any 8 longs :-( (although they did have a polka dot shift dress, and the little red cardigan and vest top you see in the second picture!).

So I ended up in M&S. I'm always very wary of M&S, they have some gems, but I always pick stuff up to admire it, and find an 80 year old next to me doing the same thing, and it puts me right off!

Anyway, the above jeans are, actually, M&S size 8 medium leg (no longs in any size or shape!), and they are fine (I think, Rhian tells me they are too short and should be dragging on the ground!) with my converse, but I can't wear them with anything with even a slight heel (including the cowboy style boots my Mummy bought me for my birthday! - I had mine first Kate ;-) ). This is fine though - I need something that length for wearing with my converse for walking to school.

Anyway, I am happy to be having this problem! Long legs and skinny is a look I'm happy to shop around for - it's just I'm not used to it!

Ice Skating

End of the half term saw us going Ice Skating with our lovely friends Lena, Jonah and Jasmin.

I have to thank my Mum for finding this lovely Gap Cardigan in her charity shop for a massive £2.50 :-) I don't think it had ever been worn, and as she'd bought it for herself, then decided it was too small, she gave it to me for nothing!

I'm loving the fact the weather (had) warmed up a bit, and I'm wearing my red converse again. The story behind these was that I'd always wanted red converse baseball boots, ever since I was 17 and at college. At the time I just couldn't justify the expense, and I bought myself a cheap version - but they just weren't the same.

Last year, on my birthday, I went shopping and decided that 20 years was just too long to wait for a pair of shoes, and if I still wanted them 20 years later, they definitely weren't a whim - so I bought myself some!

I ended up going for the low tops rather than the high-tops I would have purchased 21 years ago (it's my birthday again on Monday!), but I decided that actually once they are under trousers you can't see the high-tops anyway, and the low tops are far easier to get on and off!

Anyway, here I am with my body warmer and scarf, all ready for my ice-skating!
