Opinions Needed!

Ladies (and gents?) of tinternet, I need your help!

At the very end of last summer I bought these crocs - sumpremely comfortable, not the full-blown quirky croc-ness of normal crocs, reasonably stylish...... or so I thought.

I'm now informed by my family that they're not. Kira (9) calls them my "old lady gardening shoes", Rhian (13) tells me they make me look "Mumsy" (god forbid!)

So, kind people, please tell me...... should they stay, or should they go?

(and, btw, there must be some lens distortion or something on that first picture - my legs look abnormally skinny!)

Catch-up Post!

Work has been really busy this week, so I've not been getting away on time, and add to that equation a mardy child, or two on a really bad day, I've not actually got around to updating yet this week! Shockingly neglectful of me, I know how desperate you all are to see what I am wearing each day! (and, in case you were wondering, I am being incredibly sarcasatic! I'm amazed anyone reads this at all!)

Anyway, this was Tuesday - as you can probably see, Kira was desperate to be in the photo! I'm not really throttling her, although I have been sorely tempted to several times this week!

Yesterday saw a return of the spotty dress for work!

I thought I'd try the flats for a more "vintage" feel - well, that's what I tell myself! To be honest, my wedges make such a flip/flop/stomp din when I walk in them I wanted a break!

The school run was so beautifully warm and sunny my sun-dress had it's first outing! I've not worn such an item for many, many years, but I felt great in it :-)

Dress - H&M
Flip Flops - New Look

Today's outfit.

T-Shirt - Dorothy Perkins
Skirt - Tesco (from about 4 years ago, from last time I lost weight, but it's now too big!)
Shoes - New look

Instead of my "inheritance" diamond bling that I normally wear, I thought I'd dig out my old "bling ring", which sadly is now also a bit big, and slips round my finger!

I love it though, and it looks great with a bit of a tan :-)

Ring - lady with a stall at the sports centre! (have you thought of that Kate? This lady used to have a stall at Farnham Sports Centre and sell a ton to Mum's hanging around watching swimming lessons!)

Friday and Saturday Outfits!

Friday's outfit for work.

Trousers: Tesco
T-shirt: Dorothy Perkins
Shoes: Clarks

Rhian had a birthday party to go to on Friday night - and fell in love with this dress last weekend!

She hasn't ever had anything strapless before, and she felt a little bit naked, and it took me forever to get a relaxed-ish looking shot of her!

Dress: H&M
Shoes: Next
Hair Bow: Claires

and here is today's outfit! More colour adventure for me! Today lime-ish and red!

I started off with the cardi buttoned, but looking at the photos I wasn't sure that I wasn't "sectioning" myself, so I've actually left the cardi un-buttoned for the rest of the day, but would welcome any thoughts!

2 bright colours!

Someone stop me! You'll soon all be screaming at me to get back into monotone black and white!!

Today I tried Red and green as a combination - what do you think?

Toe decoration!

Inspired by Shoegal, and Kim at work yesterday, today I wore my wrap dress with the turquoise cardi!

And after work:

Cardi: Tesco
Top: QS

After a few weeks with a very demure french polish on my toes (of which I did have a picture for comparison, but accidently just deleted it!) they needed re-doing, so I've gone for a bright shiney red!

I'm normally a bit squeamish about toes, but Shoegal put hers up for show the other day, so I thought it time mine got an airing! lol!

Sunny Sunday

Another beautiful day today, sun shine and everything!

Started off in just the sundress my sister sent me, then for going out I added the leggings as Rhian pointed out you could see my knickers through it!

Dress: Primark or H&M (gifted)
Leggings: Next

You can't really see it in the top pictures, but here is the beautiful necklace and earrings I got from Esme-Grace - I love the colour, and with the sundress I feel as if the butterfly is trying to land amongst the flowers!

Popped into Basingstoke this afternoon to try and purchase some flip flops for Rhian. Not as easy as it sounds - it seems she has relatively short toes but large feet, so although she's "only" a size 7, she needs an 8 or 9 in flip flops! And, of course, being a teenager she's oh-so-fussy about exactly what she wants! We did end up with 2 pairs in the end, a purple, slightly more dressy pair, and a plasticy beach pair, phew!

Anyway, that was the rather long back story to this dress! It kind of jumped in my basket in H&M.

I need to work out what to do with my bra - probably my strapless bra would be the way to go!

Bloggers United! and Esme Grace Party Review

Last night I hosted (or is it hostessed?!) an Esme-Grace jewellery party. If you're in her area I would thoroughly recommend inviting Kate/Spiragirl/Schoolgatechic to your home with her beautiful jewellery.

I invited my friends, and 12 people turned up, together with 5 of Rhian's friends, and 2 of Kira's so there was a housefull! Kate displayed a selection of her lovely sparkly collection on my dining table, and the place was a twitter with ooohs and ahhhhs and "isn't it reasonable"'s! That's the beauty of Kate's range - beautiful, unusual, original, sparkly, but with none of that virgin vie "how much!?!" shock! Almost everybody left with a bag of bling, many people with more than one item as they just couldn't decide! People didn't only buy for themselves, but for birthdays and celebrations in the weeks ahead! If Kate is still in the area (which hopefully she won't be!) I'd certainly invite her back nearer Christmas to get alot of my Christmas shopping done!

As host you get to choose 1 item for free - it took me forever to choose, and I finally settled on a lovely turquoise glass winged sparkly butterfly pendant and earrings, which I will show off shortly!

Kate just gets on with it, quietly showing people alternative colours, advising on lengths etc, and occassionally tucking into the offered nibbles ;-).

Anyway, back to the outfits - this was what I was planning to wear - and in fact what I had just put on when Kate arrived, moments after my teenager had advised me I looked like a sack! Kate agreed (as did I, after looking at the photo!) that I shouldn't be doing the baggy t-shirt with the baggy linen trousers.

and here's what 2 day-to-day "fashion" bloggers do when they get together - pose! Can you see we were a little self-conscious! It's al very well posing by yourself for the camera, but posing in pairs and suddenly you don't know what to do and it all seems a little daft!

So, as you can see, I'd changed out of the baggy t-shirt!

Today was the school summer fair, I put my name down to administer temporary tattoos, but got roped into the face painting at the last minute! (without my kit, and it's always a little traumatic using someone elses kit!)

I was determined to wear the new baggy t-shirt at some point, so today put it on with my skinnies!

Unfortunately I had my back to the sun from 11 to 1.30, and despite factor 30 have a tear-drop shaped tan mark on my back!

From one extreme to the other!

Blinking cold again today, so pulled on the old jumper/shirt combo.

Sleeveless blouse: Sainsbury's
Jumper: Dotty P's
Trousers: Tesco
Shoes: Dotty P's

I really must hunt out my longer black trousers - they must be in the wash!

Then when I got home today my lovely sister had sent me this rather pretty little sun dress!

(cropped so you can see the flowers properly - not because I'm having a bad head day!)

Dress: Primark (I believe!)

I am also proud to announce that, for the first time in my adult life, I am the proud owner of a bikini (well, in fact, 2 bikinis - both the same, one in black (there's a surprise!), and one in powder blue (which is a surprise - I'm just hoping I get a tan to show it off properly!)!)

I've decided that although my tummy might well be not as smooth and stretch mark free as it once was, I am now a slim woman, and stretch marks are simply a battle scar I need to not so much be proud of, but not worried desperately about!

So watch out Lanzarote, here I come, bare tummy and all!

(you'll be pleased to hear I will NOT be sharing pics of my bikini's - even I draw the line somewhere!)

Too much Daisy Duke for an old bird?

First today's work outfit - the goold old spotty dress, but today with the turquoise cardi!

Dress: Tesco
Belt: Dotty P's
Cardi: Next
Shoes: Dotty P's

On my way home from work today I took back the sludgy coloured cardigan from my "colour" shop a couple of weeks ago - I wasn't convinced it was the right colour for me, and I had absolutely nothing to go with it!

As some of you know, we are going abroad in August for the first time in 9 years! We are going to be H O T hot! And I've no idea what to wear....

t-shirts/vests etc I think got the measure of, no problems - but what to wear on my legs?!

I've got a pair of black linen shorts, that quite frankly look like I'm wearing a baggy bin bag, not at all flattering, not a flattering length. Today I saw these.

Before you judge, my criteria for wearing them would be:

1. Baking hot, day times only
2. Not in this country

Now, honest opinions please.... should a 38 year old woman be wearing such an item?

The second photo shows a problem I'm finding we these lovely beads - catching on my (not so enormous!) boobs! Anyone any tops tips to avoid it?

And I think I've made a decision about my hair! Obviously it's only just been coloured, but it will be due another colour just before we go on holiday. Rather than spend a fortune on colours before we go, only to watch them fade rapidly in the (hopefully) fabulous sunshine for 2 weeks, I'm going to give it an all over dark brown, back to "natural" colour - without the gray.

After that I'll make a decision whether to stick with the dark brown and deal with the roots, or to have red and purple highlights, and leave the grey to do the natural highlighting for me!

White Jeans lol!

First lets start with some sensible-ness - my work outfit for today. Extremely dull, but I had no meetings planned, and I was going straight from work to give blood, some trousers are a necessity!

T-Shirt: Dotty P's
Trousers: Tesco
Shoes: New Look

So, when I got home I thought I fancied a bit of a change! I know, I thought to myself, I've got some white jeans somewhere in the deepest, darkest depths of my wardrobe, they might look nice with this green t-shirt.

The first trouble I had is that they are either a particularly baggy fit, or my thighs and backside have shrunk considerably since I bought them (which, admittedly, was probably 1994!).

The second problem I have is whether to wear white jeans or not? Is there any age limit for white denim? Are they something a sensible person should be wearing (ie, would I be leaving my house unknowingly looking like a chav?) and how on earth would I keep them clean?! I will await your responses, faithful responders, before I shop!

And finally, just to cheer you up as it's Thursday and the week has taken it's toll, but the weekend is still a whole day away - this is why short-waisted women shouldn't tuck! lol!

After a pleasant surprise on the scales this morning (last week's damage has been undone!), I decided it was time to reveal my wrap dress!

I was incredibly comfortable, and shall also be getting alot of wear this summer, I'm sure :-)

And thank you to The Shoe Lady who suggested a french manicure for my toenails - I'm feeling very cosmopoliton!

A couple of lovely comments about how the turquoise cardi suits me today - so there MUST be something in it! :-)

Back to work.... bare legs!

You can tell it's summer (and it is June, after all!), as I finally bared my legs at work today!

I did cheat a little and put one coat of Johnson's holiday sun on them last night, but my arms are all natural!
