Flowers in My Hair?

Facebook and Twitter are divided, so I thought I'd share an actual picture!

I was planning on wearing these on my head with yesterdays new dress and red belt to an evening wedding reception. (you know, not just out and about on the street, or Tescos and the school run!)

Thoughts please...

We are a family of converse wearers! Just got to get Steve on the case now, which I can't quite see happening - a bit to "with it" (or "fashion victim", as he'd more than likely phrase it!) for him!

Todays work outfit:

Trousers: Tesco
Top: Next (charity shop bargain!)
Shoes: New Look

And especially for shoegal, here is the cut in my shoes!

Wedding Party Outfit - resolved?

I popped into Tesco for some whole wheat penne, and came across this on the sale rail for £10 - exactly the same cut as my polka dot dress.

I was thinking black tights (sheer or thicker?), black patent extremely high shoes, bright red nails, possibly red alice band?

What do you think?

The other option I was going to go with (until I saw this - although I still could) was my polka dot dress, black belt, purple tights, black patent extremely high shoes, purple pashmina? (but remembering everyone at work has seen the dress already and will be at the wedding party).

I even remembered the penne!

Black trousers......

I have decided that as from next week I will be back wearing tights! It's too chilly in the mornings for bare legs, and I'm thoroughly bored of wearing just my black trousers to work!

Work to school run!

Trousers: Tesco
Jeans and Cardi: Next
T-shirt: Dorothy Perkins
Scarf: not a clue!

Thankfully today was a dress down day, so I could ditch the black trousers!

I experimented a little with the belt, but decided to go without it in the end.

Cardi and Belt: Tesco
T-shirt: Sainsbury
Jeans and Shoes: Next

I'll tell you something about these shoes - I found them in the Next sale and fell in love with them. When I tried them on in the shop they were a little bit tight, but I decided they would stretch, and they didn't have the next size up, so I bought them anyway.

I wore them for about 3 days, hoping they would stretch, but they were absolutely killing my heel where they were digging in - fine everywhere else.

So last week I took the scissors to them and made a tiny cut in the back of them - and what a difference! It's wonderful! Comfy pretty shoes :-)

I'm stuck!

I've been invited to an evening wedding reception and lots of my work colleagues will also be there, so they all would have seen anything I normally wear to work.

I don't have any "smart/casual" going out gear - and I've only got a tiny and very specific budget (£20 tesco vouchers, £10 M&S, potentially £35 Next - but these vouchers are for all my winter wardrobe, so I don't really want to blow them on something I'm only going to wear occasionally).

Ideally, I'm looking for an outfit, or an item which will go with something I've already got, which I can wear to work afterwards. Alternatively, a different way of wearing something I've already got?

Can anyone give me some inspiration? Please?!

Another Catch Up!

Things have been really rather busy at home the last 10 days or so, so I've not had a chance to update! So here I am with a rather long, photo heavy catch up!

Monday last week (thought I'd try a more exciting pose!)

Cardi: Tesco
T-shirt: Dorothy Perkins
Trousers: Tesco
Shoes: New Look

(apologies for the sideways photo!)

This is a close up of the necklace (the bracelet matches). They are olivina and are a holiday souvenir :-)

Tuesday, I was rather chilly!

Cardi: Sainsburys
Top: M&S
Trousers: Tesco
Shoes: New Look (via Kate!)

Wednesday I decided I really ought to try and embrace the end of summer, and get a bit of colour back in to my life!

Cardi, Skirt and Beads: Next
T-shirt: Dorothy Perkins
Shoes: New Look

After work Thursday:

Cardi, T-shirt and Jeans: Next
Boots: Freespirit (£10 sale bargains!)

Friday work - full on winter wardrobe (the trousers and waistcoat are a wool mix!)

Trousers, Waistcoat and Top: Next
Shoes: New Look

and a close up of the detail on the waistcoat.

This week so far has been really uninspired (boring black trousers and white tops), so I won't bore you with them!

But I thought I would share some pictures of Rhian, as you've never seen her before!

She's just joined the Air Training Corps (ATC, or Air Cadets!), and is thoroughly enjoying herself. She has been issued with these 3 uniforms to wear for different events - the greens are for meetings where they are doing more fieldcraft type activities, the middle blue uniform are her "No 2" blues for normal meetings, and activities such as collecting in town, and the final photo is her "No 1" uniform for smart occasions, such as church parade (and should be worn with the same shoes as the middle photo, but we didn't have those at the time of the photo!).

She has to care for the uniform herself, so we've been teaching her to iron them over the past week, which has been amusing :-)

After work..

I'm on a promise to Steve to cut down my clothes spending in order that we can afford to go on holiday next year! He is also reducing his gadget spend!

Today I popped into Sainsburys to pick up some new dark brown for my hair, and just happened (oops) to wander down the clothes aisle. I was very good and didn't pick anything up, until I got to the "sale clearance" rail, and this just jumped out at me. I'm a sucker for a bargain, and this was £12 reduced to £3 :-)

I like the shape and drape, and the length is ideal, I think! (Steve will, no doubt, dub it a "maternity top", sigh!)

Dress Week!

Inspired by Ephemera Fashion I decided to wear a dress to work every day this week!

Which is your favourite?

(and I have to admit to reusing photos for Monday and Tuesday, as the camera battery was flat - hence the very brown looking me on Monday!)

I think I might ask Mum to lop a bit of the bottom of the black and yellow number - I don't think that length works particularly well?

Intra-seasonal Wardrobe Disorder

Will the weather just make up it's mind!

Here are my "school run" outfits from the last 2 days! Yesterday I wore jumper and jeans, today I was hot and sweaty and barbecuing dinner in a vest and crops.

It's chilly and drizzly in the mornings, it's warm and sunny in the afternoons - deciding what to wear is a daily difficult decision, and you either end up chilly in the morning, or boiling in the afternoon. Layer dressing is obviously the way to go, which works well for top halves, but what to do with your legs?!

I'm brazening it out for the time being, and will try and avoid tights until October at the earliest, particularly as my legs are actually brown for once!

Blast from the Past!

On Saturday we had a mini-clearout of the loft, looking for some old photos!

We found the photos, and we also found this!

My Gran knitted this for me when I was about 17 or 18, so 20 years ago.

I loved this jumper, I lived in this jumper, but I'm not sure I'll ever wear it again.

I really don't want to through it out though - it's part of my history, it's handmade beautifully (with some lovely personal flaws).

The girls aren't interested in wearing it (Rhian did her patented teenage eyebrow raise when I offered it to her!), so what can I do with it?

Any suggestions?

2 day work week!

Just 2 days at work this week, Tuesday and Friday, due to inset days! I could get used to this type of work pattern, although I've been very confused all day thinking it was a Monday!

Tuesday I wore this outfit, but I'm not happy with how it looked - I feel I look kind of chunky around the middle, but I'm not really sure why? but I did like the colours :-)

Cardi: Tesco
Vest: Matalan
Skirt: Tesco
Shoes: New Look

Much happier with today's outfit!
