30th November - Black and red, and Rennie Mackintosh

Uninspired again today - although I'm liking the red/black mix!

These gloomy days don't inspire me at all - eagle eyed viewers will have noticed I hadn't even opened the curtains this morning!

This necklace is another hand-me-down from Granny Mick - her wonderful second husband Bill (they married when she was 81 and he was 89, and had 5 very happy years together) was a big Rennie Mackintosh fan, so she's got some lovely pieces. This one came my way early last year, when she was having one of her clearouts! It's solid silver, and really quite heavy!

Where do I get my clothes?

A lot of you are in the UK, and will recognise the names of the shops I purchase my clothes from, but from those of you not in the UK (and my stats show there are a fair few of you to!), here's a quick run down!

Sainsbury's/Tesco/Asda - these are massive supermarket chains, who do a sideline in clothes. I tend to browse the clothes whenever I am in doing the grocery shop, rather than going in specifically to clothes shop.

Next/Dorothy Perkins/New Look - Proper "clothes" shops - not high-end at all, but pretty "middle of the range". I tend to pop into Next and Dorothy Perkins on my way home from work as they have shops in a retail park on the way home, and New Look is just when I'm taking the girls shopping as they have a fab girls range - I usually only buy shoes from there as I feel it's stock is quite "young".

M&S - I suspect most of you have heard of Marks and Spencers? It's a big "staples" type clothing store - been around for years and years and my Mum shops there! They have introduced new ranges in the recent years, aimed at different markets, but I tend to shop for staple items such as knickers, bras, tights, socks, school uniform and t-shirts rather than "fashion" items, if you know what I mean!

Clarks - is where most of the nation's school children get their school shoes from, there's a Clarks on every high street! I'm sure they used to be really fuddy duddy for adult shoes, but in recent years I've either turned fuddy duddy, or their range has got far more trendy! You've still got to be careful as they still stock "granny shoes"!

So there you have it - most of my wardrobe is from Supermarkets!

27th November - Dress Down Day

Today was dress down Friday (the last Friday of every month, in case you've not been paying attention!), we pay a pound which goes to the Hospital Appeal, or whichever charity happens to be top of our agenda at the time!

I took a picture of my backside this morning, just for a laugh, and because I don't see it very often. I hate it - there is no "bum", it's a boys bum! It makes sitting on hard seats incredibly uncomfortable, and is just not very womanly. I will not be taking any more pictures of my backside.

And so you've seen my full range of coats (which S only just realised was as extensive as it is yesterday :-$), here is my Red "dry and not too cold" coat!

26th November - Dress as a Skirt

I've seen this done on many occasions by fellow bloggers, and decided to give it a whirl today :-)

I like that there was less bulk at my waist as there was no waistband there, and I like the fact the dress is toned down somewhat - that pattern is quite bold full length!

What do you think? (and please, no fighting ;-))

Last time (the first time!) you saw my coat it was in a portaloo mirror at Mercedes Benz World - here it is in more "upmarket" surroundings!

23rd November - Things that make you go Hmmm...

This was another attempt at wearing an essentially "summer" skirt in the winter. And I'm not convinced.

As we were leaving Kira, forever the critic, said "oh no Mum, not the boots, not that skirt with those boots, please don't get out of the car at school" (she's 9!).

With hindsight I think she may well have had a point (although I think she didn't need to have quite such an extreme reaction!) - but given the weather this morning, and the fact that these are these nearest thing to wellies without actually wearing my wellies to work, I feel a little bit justified. But the look is more "clumpy" than I was intending.

22nd November - Scruffy Sunday!

I think my "casual" wardrobe needs some work!

Today we had nothing planned, apart from a quick hour at work to check the office move had gone to plan. It had!

I'm thinking perhaps a shorter skirt (gasp!), some high heeled boots, and some colour! Anyone got any suggestions? I'm also fancying a jumper dress, but I've never bought one before so any hints or tips?

20th November - Office Moving!

We're swapping offices over the weekend at work, so today we were given special dispensation to go in "scruffs" as we were boxing everything up, and creating an awful lot of dust!

This is my new scarf! My very clever daughter R brought it back from her German exchange for me! She has obviously been paying attention, as it is a beautiful "cool" dark teal :-)

19th November - Bring on "cool" :-)

Today at work we were starting to pack up to move offices over the weekend, so I needed "comfy but smart" today!

I tried to embrace some of my new found "cool" by wearing the belt and the scarf (which come it at around "cyclamen" I feel in my colour chart!) and the purple (which looks alot like the "violet" on the chart!). The beads are definitely "cool", particuarly with the silver.

Basically, as I understand it, "cool" are colours which have a blue base, and "warm" are colours with a yellow base. So, for example, there will be a pink for everyone - for a "warm" person it would be a salmon, for a cool person it would be a "cyclamen" or a "fuchsia" or a "blush".

The beads are a new addition - I came across them while we were clearing out my Gran's house (she's recently moved, finally, into a home) and I said they were nice - next time Mum went up she brought them back for me :-)

18th November - No Photo!

Sorry, there's no photo today - I was running really late this morning, and I had my Colour Me Beautiful colour analysis straight after work, and forgot to take a picture when I got home!

I was wearing my black dress, turquoise cardi, black belt over the top of the cardi, black tights and shoes, and a purple flower! I shall leave it to your imagination!

Anyway, the colour analysis was interesting.

If you've been reading for a while, you'll remember that in May time I had an offer of a free colour me beautiful colour analysis - I went along, and was declared a "Deep, Warm and Clear" person. The tutor took me aside, and said she felt my highlights (which I'd just had redone) might be confusing the issue, and suggested that I went back to a more natural colour, or at the very least to lose the blonde and work more with the grey.

As you know, back in August I went for all over dark - and I have to say I'm still loving it :-)

The colour analysis today was interesting. The "deep" part of the analysis was obvious, no question. The warm/cool part was harder, and the trainees were struggling to decide whether I was warm or cool, as the colours they were trying on me were very similar. The trainer took over and put a pumpkin orange swatch on me, then a fuchsia pink swatch. That immediately showed that I am in no way "warm" - the orange was shockingly bad!

swo there you have it - Pat Henshaw is a colour genius, and I am naturally a "cool" person, and it was just my unnatural highlights which were causing the problem!

I am very relieved - I thought I was doomed to a life of mustard, camel, pumpkin and salmon pink - but instead I've got pure white, peppermint, periwinkle, fuchsia, raspbery, plum, dark teal and violet :-)

Good times......

17th November - Uninspired

Very unspired this morning - I had a 25 minute dentist appointment at 2, and I was ridiculously nervous about it!

Unfortunately this blouse is incredibly big on me now (it's a size 16!) and kept all slopping out the top of the jumper - Boden seems to go quite well on ebay so I might pop it on there! Shame though, it looks lovely in the summer over a cami :-)

Now I've just got to try and work out what to wear to my colour analysis tomorrow afternoon - there's always a certain amount of pressure when meeting trainee image consultants! I could go full on polka dots, but don't want to look like I'm trying too hard, so will probably go for something more "day to day"!

15th November - sloppy Sunday!

We went to the cinema today - Up in 3D was excellent!

Everything - Next!

15th November - Teenage Guest Post!

Special guest appearance today from R, in her new purple bedroom, with her new purple boots!

She got back from a German exchange trip last Monday. While she was away I got several emails from her about some lovely shoes which she had bought herself, "oh how I love them" was repeated several times :-)

And here they are, her wonderful purple pixie boots!

13th November - Turquoise Flower/Tights, Asymmetric Hem!

Pushed the envelope a bit for work today. One person wondered if I was going to a wedding, but generally it was well received!

12th November - Burgundy Jumper

I think I look massive around the waist in the first photo! The jumper is probably a little too big, and with the added bulk of the blouse (which I had tucked in at that point) it doesn't do alot for my already "tendency to stick out" tummy!

I think the jumper may be on it's way to a charity shop :-(

11th November - Purple and Black

I couldn't decide what to wear today, and I was fast running out of time, so I decided to try wearing this "summer" linen skirt as a winter skirt!

I did have the purple flower on initially, but decided to go with the glass beads instead - trouble is they make a noise as they rub together that really sets my teeth on edge!

I went for my "biker boots" today as well, as I had a day just in the office, without having to go out and about to see people!

I just looked at my blog stats, and couldn't work out why I'd had soooo many hits yesterday compared to normal!

Now, if you google "powered by mercedes benz live" - a big petrol head/F1 freebie event - second on the list (with only the official mercedes site above it!) is this little ol' "fashion" blog!

Perhaps not quite what they were expecting!

Oh well, if you've come here expecting photos of Lewis Hamilton driving his car - here you go! Sorry it's not even in focus - he was moving a bit fast for my phone!

10th November - Black and White, again!

I need to get some brighter colours into my winter wardrobe!

I'm having my colours re-done next Wednesday, as the trainer last time gave me the advice about my hair colour, and said I could go back if I decided to change my hair and they would see if it changed me from "warm" to "cool". Once I've got a verdict I will go and spend some vouchers I have lurking!
