29th January - Dress Down Day

Dress Down Friday today, and I was in a bit of a quandry as to what to wear, until, after waking up at silly o'clock this morning I came across this link to 10 "flop proof" casual outfits from Kasmira's blog.

Suddenly my wardrobe was my oyster! While still lying in bed I couldn't decide between this outfit, or the structured jacket/jeans/converse combo, but this outfit won out as we're going away straight after school today, and I think these boots will stand me in better stead over the weekend for "evening" eating than converse. (I'll be wearing walking shoes all day).

I have to say I've felt great in this outfit all day - flitting around the hospital! (strutting, actually, these boots are definitely strutting boots!)

28th January - Sale! (final Sale post, promise!)

Final Very Sale bargain of the day!

This is another silky dress, which is more grey, yellow and purple than I realised from the picutre, but it's a lovely fit, and a bargain reduced from £36, and I got it for £12.50 with the code I had. (Fi, they also do a "tall" version!)

All in all I have been very happy with the service - quick delivery and free returns.

What do you think - to belt, or not to belt?

And any further guess on height? lol!

28th January - Sale Sale!

Another Very bargain! Originally £29, reduced to £6, meaning I picked it up for £3!

It's a very light silky fabric, and definitely more "party wear" than I was expecting - but I tried it on with my sequinned top, and all I need now is a party to go to!

28th January - Sale Sale Sale!

On Monday Very sent me a code for 50% extra off all their sale items. Never one to turn away the opportunity of some bargain hunting I hit their virtual sale rails on Monday evening, and today I received 2 parcels from them!

This belt, I think, is probably going back, sadly. They only had a "small" left (I'm an 8-10, I don't know quite how much "smaller" they think women generally are!), and I'm only just able to get it done up on the last hole - and I think that's not a good look! Let me know soon if you think otherwise! Unfortunately I've got it on a bit wonky in the body shot! It is a beautiful belt though, all leather, and a steal - £29 RRP, I got it for £7.25. If anyone who is a size 6 wants it for £7.25 + whatever it'll cost me to send it to you just let me know!

28th January - Work outfit

A rather dull and lumpy looking outfit today! I was intending on wearing a 3/4 sleeve turquoise cardigan over it, but didn't like the look of it once I'd put it on!

As a result I was freezing all day at work.

Sigh.

27th January - Grey and Black stripey tights

I bought these tights for Rhian yesterday, but decided to give them a trial run before I pass them over!

I must admit that I'm not happy with this outfit today - something's not quite right! Any ideas?

I had a meeting today with someone who always seems effortlessly stylish. She had a lovely scarf casually tossed around her neck, a lovely blend of colours, a great skirt and ugg boots, which I don't normally like, but they looked fab on her. Some people just have that ability to pull an outfit together, and I'm highly envious of them! (who knows, she may well have spent hours putting that outfit together, but pulled off the "effortless" look none the less). I just haven't got it!

26th January - I'm channelling Riverdance!

I planned today's outfit last night (for a change), but was running late when I was taking my photos this morning, and really needed to be already out of the door.

In my head, the flat shoes would add a bit of a girly twist to the outfit.

It was only when I saw the second photo that I realised I looked like I was about to audition for Riverdance - so I decided to treat you all to a spot of Irish Dancing! With hindsight I'd have been better off spending the 30 seconds I was taking the photo popping upstairs and getting my boots! Oh well, it made a change anyway!

And just as a point of interest, how tall do you think I am? (given that there's nothing to compare me to in these photos!) Answers in comments please! I will reveal all shortly! (I mean that I will tell you how tall I am, rather than "reveal all" lol! There are somethings I simply wouldn't inflict on you!)

25th January - Dress and Purple Tights

The start of a new week!

Thought I'd perk this outfit out with some tights to match my nail varnish!

Then when I put my red coat on I thought I'd stick the purple pashmina on to tie the tights back in.

I didn't have to leave the office at all today, so I popped my jacket on the back of my chair when I arrived at work, and didn't put it back on until I left for the day!

22nd January - Black and Blue!

I didn't plan what I was going to wear today, at all. Usually it's a last minute decision, but today even more so. Kira was mucking about with her hair, which wasn't going quite as she required it, which left me precisely 6 minutes for hair, make-up and dressing.

I grabbed this jumper and skirt, then thankfully found these exactly matching tights! Neckwear was simply a case of grabbing yesterdays beads and wrapping them twice around for a different look from yesterday!

It wasn't quite the "chic" look I'd have gone for if I was more organised, but it did, and I got lots of comments about how co-ordinated I was! (I might not be stylish, but I'm definitely co-ordinated! lol!)

21st January - Blue and Black

These shoes, long known as my "Ugly Betty Shoes" have gone - they're in the bag for the charity collection! I didn't even wear them to work today, finding the pair I wore yesterday still in the car when I got in I decided there and then that I was never going to wear my UBS again!

I'm struggling with these trousers too - trousers used to be my work "staple", and I wore them most days of the week. These are a strange length - too short for heels, too long for flats (not that I've got any flats suitable for work right now!).

So feeling a bit "urgh" about today's outfit altogether! (apart from the beads, I love these beads!)

20th January - After Work

I continue my quest for the perfect stripey top. This one (underneath the jumper) I picked up in Tesco for £5 yesterday - wider blue stripes than the gap one, more of a "slash" neckline (although it's more like a baby's vest top - is that "envelope"?). Unforuntately it's only got 3/4 sleeves, and given that it was snowing here again today (yes, again!) it was too cold to wear without something else.

The middle photo was me trying to fend off Small, who was trying to get in on the act - I managed to stop her trying to steal my limelight by getting her to take the last picture!

20th January - Leopard Print for work

This was perhaps a bit "wacky" for work, but I thought "why not"!

I'm wearing a new lipstick today "Amethyst Shimmer" by Rimmel (I think!). It's not as bright as my normal lipsticks, and I'm missing the "pop" I usually get from my lips!

19th January - Green and Purple

I was running a course today, and then sitting in a garage waiting room this afternoon for an hour and a half on my way home while my wheel bearings were being fixed, so I didn't want to be too smart!

16th January - Party Time!

I went to a lovely friend's 40th Birthday Party last night - it was at a local hall, and again I wasn't quite sure what the dress code was, so I went with the sequins and jeans combo again, but decided to wear my new jacket for a smarter feel.

I felt fine in this outfit, but I could have easily gone smarter without feeling out of place.

Did lots of dancing, and boy did the bottom of my feet hurt when I got home!

Leopard Print Converse - What do you think?

Fearne Cotton has designed some leopard print converse with red laces.

I'm seriously tempted, but I'm not sure if they're a bit "young" for me, and whether I'd look like mutton dressed as lamb, or whether I was trying a bit too hard to be young and trendy!

I'd wear them with bootleg jeans, if that makes any difference.

Thoughts please :-) (I've already tried twitter and facebook, and reactions varied from "cool, go for it" to "get some proper adult shoes, and leave these kids shoes well alone".

Edited on 26th April to add: These are only available from Very.co.uk, and I've changed the hyperlink above to get you straight to them. I did decide to pre-order them, and they arrived at the end of March, and I have worn them alot since then! They fit just like normal converse - so just order your normal size. I do have fairly narrow feet, and I'm not too sure how someone with wider feet might fare, but if you want to try some on just pop into any converse stockist and have a go, then get online and order these! Lots of people have commented on their "funkiness", and I just love them - converse style, with a real twist! I wear my currently with the white laces, which I feel makes them just that little bit more versatile, as the red in the shoes is more subtle and you can get away with wearing something you wouldn't normally wear with red, iykwim!

Now I know lots of people end up on my blog after googling "leopard print converse" - so why not take a look around while you're here :-)

15th January - Black and Purple

A morning post from me, as Kira's school is still not opening until 10.00, so I'm flexing my working hours to accomodate! They've said they'll be back to normal next week, thankfully, as I've got 4 hours from Wednesday to make up.

Can you tell I'm loving these boots?

14th January - Back to proper work clothes, finally!

Finally today I got back to work, and got to wear proper clothes, and proper high heels! (ok, I did wear my wellies into work, but I was very brave and wore my boots home, a decision I nearly regretted when I nearly fell over in Tesco!)
