31st March - Purple and White again

Different take on the purple/white theme today!

I've had to play a bit with the photos, as the photos were completely washed out today! The two photos of the flowers show the difference - the more blue one is taken in natural light, and the brighter one is taken with the falsh, and is more true to the actual colour!)

I originally had my purple beads on with it, but there was too much going on with buttons and beads (see, I'm learning!) but the outfit was deathly dull without anything, so I stuck on my fabric flower!

You can't tell from the photos, but I had on purple tights under fishnets again!

30th March - Re-wearing an old favourite

I know, I know, I've worn this outfit sooo many times - but I just love this dress. It's a "statement", initially way way out of my comfort zone, but now I feel it's a real wardrobe staple of mine!

29th March - Purple and White

Thought I'd try a different background colour under the purple today!

I love the mix of purple and white, but I don't like the way this seems to draw my eye to my middle!

Off to the hairdressers shortly - hopefully to have some of the "bowl" look removed! lol!

26th March - Wear It Red Day 2!

As you can see, once again I have fully embraced "wear it red day"!

I've been thinking about trying flop-proof outfit number 5 since reading the you look fab article a while back, but today I decided it was finally warm enough to give it a whirl! I decided against the embellished t-shirt, as I feel once you're past a certain age (not sure what age that is, but I am pretty sure I'm past it!) embellished t-shirts are not so good (well, for me anyway - quickly back tracking here thinking of wonderful women I've seen wearing the aforementioned item!)

Kira, of course, was mortified that I was wearing (gasp) a smart jacket with jeans, and we ended up having a big discussion about style not being about wearing what everyone else was wearing, but more about wearing what you wanted to and pulling things together in different ways, and not being afraid to try something different or not exactly like your friends. I'm not entirely convinced she's sold on the idea! (but look how far I've come, people!)

25th March - re-working the Dress and Trousers combo

Black trousers again today, but back to my Dorothy Perkins ones, whose hem had fallen down which was why I'd reverted to the awful Tesco flares from yesterday. I sucked it in and finally got around to sticking a bit on wonderweb on the hem!

Again I was thwarted by the red top from yesterday still having the deodrant stains on (I washed it overnight), so I quickly grabbed this jersey dress and popped it on over the top! I was quite pleased with the look!

I'm loving the look of these bangles, but they are driving me mad bashing on my desk all day!

Catch Up - Wednesday

Nearly there!

My planned outfit was thwarted by the discovery of deodrant stains on the top I was planning on wearing (which are still there after a wash - any top tips?), and I was running late (aren't I always?!) so I grabbed the first thing I could reach, and stuck my "go-to" beads on!

I'm really not liking these trousers from the front view - very flare-y!

Catch Up - Tuesday After Work

I was very very excited to receive a lovely parcel from Very on Monday afternoon, with my lovely Fearne Cotton Leopard Print Converse inside!

Tuesday was the the first time I managed to get a proper picture of them!

I love love love them!

Catch Up - Last Friday

Bit of a dull outfit last Friday - I definitely had lost inspiration by that point!

Catch Up - Last Thursday

It's time for the big catch up! I'll still do a seperate post for each day, but probably won't write an awful lot!

This outfit did prompt my mother, who I was giving a lift from the station to on my way home from work, to say "What *are* you wearing". She tends to only see me in my normal jeans/jumper weekend staples, so my work wardrobe is still a bit mysterious to her!

Sunglasses

Still can't log onto our network, so in lieu of a "proper post" I thought I'd share my sunglasses with you!

Not the most exciting sunnies on the planet, but they're prescription, and the most "sunglasses" looking ones I've had for many years! I do wear them an awful lot in the sunshine, in a (somewhat too late) attempt to avoid too many wrinkles by screwing up face!

Since I've been wearing glasses (um, 17 years!) I've really missed the annual beginning of the summer sunnies shop for the latest "thing", but I'm too squeamish to try contacts!

Having some technical difficulties....

Sorry for the shoddy service recently, I'm having some "issues" with my laptop, and am currently posting from my trusty iPhone, which is not conducive to my normal photo layout.

I am still taking photos, so once I'm sorted there will be a flurry of posts while I catch up!

So, apologies, normal service should (hopefully!) resume shortly!

Monday, 22 March 2010

They have finally arrived!

Remember all the umming and ahing and should I/shouldn't I-ing about the leopard print converse back in January?

Well......

A very exciting parcel arrived today!

My new babies are here! I'm so excited! Aren't they gorgeous! (well, perhaps not so much with the purple tights!)

There's a decision to be made about lace colour - they come with 2 pairs, red and white. I personnally think I'm too old to work (and pull off!) the "one-of-each" look! As I'm a lazy bint and the white ones are already threaded for me I shall probably just stick with them for the moment!

Right, must go rustle up a school run look to go with my shoes!

17th March - School Run Yucky/Yummy Mummy?

Here I am in my standard spring school run outfit - it's about a 10 minute walk to school, 15 minutes standing around waiting for Kira, and then a 15 minute walk home (my legs are significantly longer than hers!).

Now, I thought you could never go wrong with a denim jacket - other than the "double denim" thing, which I'm always very careful not to do (which is why you've seen a lot of these linen mix boyfriend cut trousers recently!). I've had this particular model 3 or 4 years, and it's beautifully worn in. Unfortunately it was a rather popular model, and certainly in two offices at work of 9 of us, 4 of us have one!). It's seen me through thick and thin (literally! I bought it when I was putting some weight on, it had a stage where I couldn't do it up around my hips, and now looking at these photos it's looking a little large, certainly in the sideways shot!)

Yesterday after school (which admittedly Kira came out of in a bit of a grump - it sadly seems to be her default mode recently) Kira said that I wasn't to walk with her. Further questionning resulted in the statement "that jacket is so last year".

So what do you think? Thumbs up for denim? or designate it to the charity shop bag? (sob!)

17th March - New Purple Ebay Purchase

Left alone with only my laptop for company one night last week I typed "shrug" into an ebay search box, and this popped up! My lovely sister had send me £5 for my birthday, and that's exactly how much this little purple number set me back, bnwt. So thank you, Little Sis!

16th March - No photo, but a link to a competition!

Sorry, life got a bit chaotic this morning with the builder round to put our skirting back on, and my Mum appearing needing a lift to the station. Needless to say a photo didn't get taken! It was a rather dull outfit anyway, purple skirt and black jumper, white shirt and purple beads! I'll leave you to imagine it!

So no photo, but instead I'll link you through to Shoegal's blog, where she's got an amazing prize to win!

And, as a bonus, here's a link through to inside out style and her quick guide to how to wear a belt.

15th March - Red and Black, just for a change!

Oh how I love a beautiful vase of sunny daffodils :-) These were part of my lovely Mother's Day present from my beautiful girls! I'm a very lucky Mum!

So today was my first day parking my car off-site from work, so I decided to wear my sensible shoes.

As it was, the car park I'm parking in is far closer to work than I realised, and I think I'll probably be just fine walking in wearing my heels! Luckily I didn't buy any new flat shoes at the weekend in anticipation eh?!

I only popped my birthday bangles on as an afterthought when I saw them lying on the table in between shots!

14th March - Wootton Bassett

Thankfully, for the sake of my "fashion" blog, this is just about the only photo of me from yesterday!

Steve and I had a fantastic day joining tens of thousands of bikers (reports say 10,000 - the organisers had 15,000 wristbands to give away which had all gone by 9 am, with many thousands of bikers arriving after that!) in a ride through Wootton Bassett near Swindon in aid of Afghan Heroes, a charity which supports families of those who have lost their lives fighting in Afghanistan.

13th March - weekend Catch Up - Slouchy Saturday

Lots of bits and pieces to do on Saturday this weekend, so I went for function rather than fashion!

12th March - Spring in my step

After work I met up with some friends for a coffee and cake (well, I don't drink coffee, so I just had cake!). The weather is warming up slightly, so my denim jacket made it's first appearance of the year! I love wearing my denim jacket with a bright scarf!

12th March - Doubling Up!

I knew I just had a day in the office today, so I could afford to be less structured than I normally dress (although I dress completely differently to everyone else in the office anyway!) I was all set to just wear my jumper dress and purple tights, with my high boots - but I suddenly lost my nerve and felt a bit "naked" - like I was wearing a jumper and had forgotten to put something else on! I was running a bit late by this point, so I just chucked on my trousers - over my purple tights and everything!

Dress: Next
Trousers and Shoes: Dorothy Perkins

On another note, I've got to start parking a 10 minute walk away from work come Monday, so I'm not sure I'm going to have my heels at home to photograph in! I've also just discovered that I have no flat shoes that aren't boots, flip flops, strappy sandals, converse or bright yellow crocs, so that could make my walking attire a little "interesting". I am contemplating roller blading though, which could be interesting in some of my outfits!

11th March - Matronly Stripes

Today I wore the "too small" cardigan again (well, it did cost my Mum £2, I can't just abandon it!), but as suggested by several of you previously, I scrunched the sleeves up so it looked like it was supposed to be that length! Top tip!

We had a discussion at work today, and my colleagues were saying that they often found things were too long in the sleeves - I never have this problem, and in the end a colleague of a similar height and I compared arms, and mine were significantly (half a hand!) longer than hers! Very unscientific, but perhaps I have longer than average arms!

I was in a meeting today when somebody pointed out that my dress exactly matches the stripes in our clinical matron's uniforms!

And finally, for today, I thought I would share this image from a birthday card I got - made me giggle, as perhaps I think this is what I look like a little! (although I would NEVER wear hooped earrings! lol!)
