31st August - Pink and Black

I was completely lacking in inspiration sat in front of the wardrobe today! It's definitely intra-seasonal wardrobe time!

Part of my trouble is that my work wardrobe now involves lots of dresses, and if I have to wear trousers I'm lacking smart, stylish tops to wear with them!

I'm really looking forward to deciding it's proper autumn, and putting tights back on - I usually try and hold out until October, but I'm sure it's going to be before that this year!

Competition Reminder

It's not too late to enter - the girls and I will be reviewing entries on Friday!

A question for you all

Brogues, for me.

What would I wear them with?

Could I pull them off?

Should I?

Fun post for Saturday!

I finally found something that matches my yellow shoes!

28th August - Saturday Mooching

I've decided I need to try and pep up my weekend wardrobe somewhat, so today I made a proper effort! (so much so that S commented "you're a bit dressed up for mowing the grass and going to the tip aren't you?!! lol!)

I belted this dress for the first time today, and I was pleased with the results. Following yesterday's advice about belting I put the belt on my natural waist - which as you can see is only a smidgen below my "umpire" line ;-) (sorry anon!).

These are new leggings I picked up yesterday in M&S - they are a dark gray, and are good and thick - so I will be going back and looking for some black ones, which I was reassured they had but just couldn't find them anywhere obvious, and I was in the mood to wander around looking for them!

26th August - Pink and Black

Reworking last Thursday's outfit with Pink in the place of the yellow!

I trimmed this belt after looking at the photos - so it didn't have a big flapping bit anymore.

I got lots of compliments on the colour of the cardigan today - I like it, but didn't think it was that out of the ordinary!

25th August - Rainy Wednesday

I nearly didn't bother posting today, as this has got to be my most uninspired work outfit for many a while!

The forecast was for persistent heavy rain from mid morning onwards, and they were right - and we've got more on the way tomorrow - with the temps hitting a particularly unjoyous high of just 14 degrees.

If it wasn't August I'd be reaching for tights, boots and a scarf, but it's still "summer", and I just refuse to go there!

24th August - New Belt

A new belt today - picked up in M&S at the weekend - can't beat purple mock croc eh?

Noticed I'd forgotten to put my glasses on in the first photo - so improvised in the second while sending smallest to the bathroom to get them!

Dress: Very
Belt: M&S
Shoes: New Look

Feeling better about the extra lbs already, making a decision to go back to weightwatchers (I just do online) has given me a sense of purpose.

Great entries in the competition already - keep them coming!

When I got a message via twitter a couple of weeks ago from Clothing@Tesco I was intrigued - and then excited when I heard what they wanted me to do!

The very, very nice people at Tesco Clothing are currently promoting "An Outfit for £30" - they had read this blog, and had spotted my forays into colour, and wanted me to choose something for myself to push me out of my colour comfort zone. I had the run of their webiste, and chose this lovely outfit, which costs under £30. They have offered you, my lovely readers, the chance to win £30 for you to treat yourselves to the great range at Tesco Clothing. What's not to love about that hey?!

I was allowed to decide how to choose a winner myself, and seeing on how this blog is all about my style, and pushing my boundaries, I thought I'd ask you to go to Tesco.com and choose me an outfit, for less than £30, that you think would work for me. It can be smart or casual, I really don't mind! The winner, picked by me and my lovely daughters next Friday - 3rd September, will receive £30 to spend on themselves on Tesco Clothing.

Regular readers will have probably noticed that I wear a fair amount of Tesco clothing already - they are great for value and quality, with style. My spotty dress, an absolute wardrobe staple of mine, is Tesco.

This dress is described on the website as "green", but I feel it's more of a turquoise than green, but the colour is true to the colour shown on the website - it also comes in purple, which I was seriously tempted by! The shoes are described as "blue", but most definitely a smokey grey!

To enter just visit Tesco.com, have a look around their fantastic selection, and post the links to your choices for me in a comment on this post! That easy!

While you're there, why not have a look around to see what you'd buy yourself with £30 if you're the winner?!

The competition is only available to readers in the UK, but I'd love to see what overseas readers would choose for me too! Please mention your location if you're submitting an entry from outside the UK.

Good luck everyone - I'm really looking forward to seeing your choices :-)

23rd August - Bleurgh

It rained all of last night, absolutely poured down - but I braved it outside in the last of the drizzle for my photos this morning.

I spent ages sitting in front of my wardrobe this morning trying to think of what to wear - I'm seriously suffering from ISWD (Intra-seasonal wardrobe disorder) - I'm wanting to be wearing summer skirts and vest tops, but it's not warm enough, but it's not cold enough for warm tights, boots and scarves.

And I'm feeling fat - I've not managed to shift the holiday lbs on my own, so I'm going back to weightwatchers online to help me out!

I'm all ready for the exciting competition - so watch this space!

20th August - A Day Out at Kew Gardens

Not very good shots today, but I had a day out with my girls at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew - less than an hour away from us by train.

The girls had a camera each, and I just let them snap away (Rhian would like to be a photographer), but they focused more on all the beautiful flowers than my outfit shots - which I'm glad about as that was the plan for the day :-)

19th August - Black and Yellow

Today it seemed everyone at work was wearing black - and we were joking about "the black email" that some people hadn't recieved - we stopped joking about it though after a I mentioned it to someone from outside our department, who was also wearing black, who promptly told me she was going to a funeral this afternoon :-(

I think my yellow "pops" stopped my outfit from looking too funerial, and maybe turned it a little "bumble bee"! You'll be pleased (perhaps?!) to know that I actually carried on wearing the bangle today, and you can see that "wonder woman" has managed to keep all of her head!

I also got a very exciting parcel today - my package all ready for the forthcoming competition - so watch this space....... :-)

18th August - Finally, toes!

There was no rain forecast for today (liars!), so I braved the open toes!

Not quite sure what I was doing in the first shot, and the second shot I was trying out Sheila's wonder woman pose - although I'm pretty sure wonder woman didn't cut the top of her head off!

I decided against the yelllow bangle in the end.

17th August - Calling Summer......

Has anyone seen Summer? I'm sure I've got the date wrong - it's supposed to be the middle of August, the height of summer. We're supposed to be barbecuing, and picnicking, and eating al fresco, going to the beach, topping up my tan with a book in the sunshine, and skipping in meadows (I might be pushing it a bit with the last one, but you know what I'm getting at!).

But what we're doing is wondering whether I should stick my denim jacket on to get to work, and wearing closed shoes rather than sandals to avoid getting wet toes on the walk to work!

Leopard Print Converse

I see from my stats that a lot of folk stumble across this blog while looking for leopard print converse.

As I own, and I love, such shoes, I thought I'd do a quick post with the details!

They are designed by the lovely Fearne Cotton, and can only be purchased here!

They come with 2 sets of laces, these red ones, and my preference, the white ones. They are typical converse, and sizing is true to converse sizing. As with all converse they are relatively narrow fit - I'm not sure how they'd fit anyone with wider feet - but if you're not sure try some on in any colour in a shop before buying online!

Hope this helps!

Boots Smooth Skin - Final Review

OK, I gave it my best shot!

Initially I was pleased with the results - after around 12 weekly initially then fortnightly sessions I was really seeing a difference - I was only shaving my legs every week or so, and the regrowth was decidedly patchy - result, I thought!

Now, 2 months on after stopping my regular sessions, regrowth is back to normal, and I'm back to shaving every other day to keep the jungle at bay.

Long and the short of it - don't bother, save your £300 quid and hours of your life - learn from my mistakes.

I do notice that Phillips have a similar looking device that only promises to "slow down regrowth" - if this is all the Boots Smooth Skin promised then you'd get exactly that, but permanent hair removal? Nope, not from this machine.

I hope this review helps someone save some time and cash - let me know of your experiences or if this review is helpful at all!

15th August - Ice Cream Seller!

Hmmm, lunch at my Mum's today, with my girls, and my sister and her little girl (the bridesmaid!) - I had on the jeans and white t-shirt, and was rummaging around my shoe pile for inspiration, and found my red mary janes!

Also, entangled in the shoe pile was this vest, which I think I bought just before I lost the weight, and I don't think I've ever worn! I put it on on a whim, and decided just to go with it, as by this stage we were a bit late (I'd been having epilatory issues!).

Steve very kindly suggested I was off out to sell ice-creams!

13th August - Day Off, jumping for joy!

Day off today, and with a terrible weather forecast and 2 girls to entertain, we have decided to have a "baking day"!

So far we have made a "Mega Chocolate Fudge Cake" and a chocolate brownie cheesecake. Homemade bread is half done, and we are going to make sweet potato and chorizo soup to complete the cooking and serve it all up for dinner!

I was trying to catch a proper "in the air" shot, but these were the best of several attempts!
