30th September - Black and Red

Last night I made a decision - I have decided to keep the brogues - well, I had made a decision!

I planned today's outfit to wear with the brogues, I re-laced them to my liking, I put them on while I was finishing off around the house this morning, and then I decided that, actually, they are half a size too big! They don't do them in half sizes, and the smaller size was too small - so they've gone back to the shop today. At £45 they would be the most expensive shoes (not boots!) I've ever purchased, so I really want them to fit me properly! Don't worry though, my final decision has not gone to waste, and I already have a replacement pair on order - the clarks "crepe" brogues in plain black leather!

Today I wanted to show you my new scarf! Sainsbury's currently have 25% of all their clothing and accessories (until Monday) and I was browsing yesterday and spotted this scarf - which called to me! (and a bargain at just £5 to start with, so £3.75 with the discount!).

I missed my 2 year blogiversary on the 3rd September!

If you've got nothing better to do, why not have a rummage through the archives and see how far I've come - there are alot more "shockers" back then!

Thank you to those of you have been with me a while, indeed thank you to each and every one of you who reads (got to love a stat counter!), and particularly those who comment and vote - I appreciate every comment and vote, and I really feel this blog has moved me forward leaps and bounds in my sense of style. I now think about what I'm going to wear, and the fact I need to share it here on the interweb means I make far bolder decisions than I would ever have done in the past.

Thank you everyone - please don't forget to click on the reaction boxes at the end of each post so i know how I'm doing!

29th September - Whoa! Purple!

This morning's outfit evolved rather than being meticulously planned.

Initially I was going to wear a black long sleeved T under the dress, but this purple one fell of the hanger next to it - so I decided to wear it! I was going to wear black tights, then spotted these very closely colour matched ones in the drawer, so added them into the mix!

Looked in the mirror and the eye was very much drawn to the purple arms and legs, so I added the silver belt (which came attached to a pair of 10 year old jeans! I know I'm slim, but a 10 year old's waist? I'm not that deluded! What size 10 year olds they're catering for I really don't know!) to bring the eye back to the middle of the outfit.

What do you think?

Opinion is very much split down the middle (exactly 50/50 last time I looked) on yesterdays "brogues, again!" post - so please vote, because I'm hopeless at making a decision, and that's what it's currently looking like I'm going to have to do lol!

Brogues, again!

A friend forced me to have a browse through the latest next catalogue yesterday, and I saw some straight leg jeans I really liked the look of, so after work today I headed into our biggest local store to have a look for them.

I found them (you'll see them in a minute!), and also came across these. Those of you who've been reading for a while will remember me asking, not so very long ago, for your opinion on them. Rhian is currently "working" a pair of leather brogues for her school shoes, and I was still very much debating whether to get some for myself.

These patent models caught my eye.

So I bought them, and brought them home to try on with various outfits, with the option to take them back if I change my mind.

First I started with work trousers - I like them with this outfit - although my face isn't looking so pretty (has anyone else smelt Bearded Dragon poo?! - this is the face you pull if that smell has just hit your nostrils!)

Please bear in mind that these are not fully thought out outfits, just grabbed from my wardrobe to try on with the shoes!

From reviewing the pictures that only thing I have concluded is that I definitely wouldn't wear them with the red skirt - I think they would strictly be trousers or above the knee skirts only, if I keep them! But I still really don't know!

Have a vote people, and let me know! (and I've only given you 2 choices - so there's not sitting on the fence here!)

Brogues, should they stay, or should they go?
Step away from the brogues - leave them to the teenager!
I like them - keep them! free polls

27th September - Dozey Monday

I have been wide awake since 3.30 this morning - why? Because my Small girl had to be dropped at school at 5.30 to head off on her 1 week trip to France, and I was woken by a horrid dream in which all the clocks in the house were telling a different time, and as a result we'd missed the coach.

Thankfully we didn't miss the Coach, and she is (hopefully) wending her way across the French countryside as I type!

24th September - "wear it red" dress down friday

Today was a chilly day, and a dress down Friday, and I was on health and safety training all morning, so comfort was the name of the game!

23rd September - Disassembled!

Remember on Monday I set out to wear this top, and tried it a couple of different ways before I ditched it?

I'd almost decided that it was destined for the charity shop bag, when something Sheila said gave me a flash of inspiration!

I reached for my trusty nail scissors (my Mum used to have a special "unpicker" tool, but I'm not much (or any!) of a dressmaker, so nail scissors it was!) and unpicked the sleeves, the shirt-tails and the collar!

I was intending on wearing it with my long sleeved shirt (which isn't as flappy around the bottom), but it needed ironing, so I wore it with this top instead.

22nd September - I'm bored

At the risk of sounding like my children, I would like to announce in a whiney voice, that I am truly "booooooorrrred".

Work is busy but dull, home is constantly busy, but dull, I'm feeling generally busy, but dull.

The weather is busy, but dull (just make up your mind weather - is it autumn, or is it summer! We've got a temp of 21 degrees today and lovely sunshine, warmer than most of the "summer"!) Tomorrow it's going to wet and about 14.

Today's outfit is..... busy, but dull, and probably a size too small! (straight into the charity shop bag for the t-shirt when it comes off - although Rhian has just read over my shoulder and has laid claim to it!)

I have no real complaints, life is good and I'm happy really, just feeling busy, and dull! (life could be so much worse lol!)

and I have green shoes - how bad can life be? ;-)

20th September - a Tale of Two Outfits

Yesterday morning I started with this outfit.

Then I reviewed my picture, and decided that the bottom part of the top (it's an all-in-one thingy) was too long and flappy.

So I decided to try tucking the long, flappy bit. Then I reviewed my picture, and decided that something didn't look right.

So I decided to.....

go and get changed!

Did I make the right decision?

And today, Tuesday, I completely forgot to take my picture, and now I'm looking rather dull in jeans and a jumper!

16th September - Another Grey Day!

Found this little dress in Asda the other day for just £16 - it's jersey so super comfy!

I bought it in black as well, and intend to get my Mum to take it up a significant amount to make it a super sexy mini LBD for my Christmas Party!

I also bought this cardigan, not realising it had pouffy sleeves until I put it on this morning. I'm not entirely convinced - what do you think?

15th September - What a Grey Day!

After yesterday's coldness, I wanted something warmer today, and felt just right today in this ensemble! (and yes I do have my eyes closed in the second picture, and a terribly goofy look in the first - I was obviously not having a photogenic morning!)

14th September - Wrap Dress

There's a definite autumnal feel to the mornings now (sorry, it's in italics and I just can't work out how to get rid of them!).

I was freezing all day at work in this outfit - definitely need to find something warmer to wear tomorrow!

I went shopping after work, and may just have purchased 2 dresses, and maybe just a cardigan too!

13th September - Sleepy in Pink

I had an absolutely fantastic day yesterday on a girlie day out with friends at the Help for Heroes concert at Twickenham. Excellent concert, and some lovely girlie time with no kids pestering us!

It was a busy day, with a late night, so today the alarm was a rather rude awakening!

Can you see - I tucked! and I stayed tucked! And nobody laughed at me! (well, not to my face!)

10th September - Feeling good

I am feeling so much better having shifted a few pounds - my clothes are back to fitting so much better! I'm also liking my new haircut at the moment - I dyed it "ice mahogany" last week, which I was a bit worried about to start with, but I'm liking the way it's fading now :-)

This outfit was a bit ambitious for the weather today, and I spent all day with a cardi over the top!
