15th Dressember 2011

Leopard print today, with maroon underneath, just for a change!

Dress: Tesco

14th Dressember - Part 2!

Girls night out at the pub last night, not sure whether this strictly qualifies as a dress, but it covers my bottom, so fits within the very loose Dressember "rules" (heck, it's my project, I can set whatever rules I like eh?!)

14th Dressember 2011

Today was "Waving Wednesday!" - as you can probably tell from the completely manic look on my face, I'd completely forgotten I was supposed to wave until the moment before the shutter clicked!

Dress: George (via ebay)

13th Dressember 2011

Day 13, so it must be time to bring out the old faithful spotty dress!

12th Dressember 2011

A quiet day in the office for me today, and I was a bit tired after yesterdays celebrations! This dress is so lovely and comfy - it's like going to work in my pjs!

Dress: TKMaxx

11th Dressember 2011

Rhian, my gorgeous eldest, was 16 years old today! It appears from this photo that she's smaller than me - but in reality I'm just nearer the camera :-) She's about 3 inches taller than me!

10th Dressember 2011

Lots to do today, so needed a functional frock, and luckily this arrived in the post yesterday!

Dress: Bon Prix

9th Dressember 2011

This was not the dress I was planning. I was planning a wrap dress, but when I put it on it turns out it doesn't wrap over enough to make it decent enough to wear over tights for work, so I had to make a quick decision about an alternative! This was the same colour scheme (black/white/red) as the wrap dress, so it was just as easy.

8th Dressember 2011

An old stalwart today - the pin stripe from Dorothy Perkins, with the purple belt and purple top.

And my very special Dressember badge!

Wednesday, 7 December 2011

7th Dressember 2011

Today was "Whirling Wednesday" for the fabulous Dressember facebook community - pick your most swirly twirly dress, and spin while you take your photo!

I had a couple of attempts, but got a bit dizzy and decided that would have to do! The funny thing is that there is not one photo on the facebook page without a great big grin to go with the swirling skirt :-)

Thought I'd do a "sensible shot" as well - I do like this dress :-)

Once I got home from work I got changed into Dress 2! Dress: Next, Top: Sainsburys

6th Dressember 2011

Necessity is the mother of invention - and today I couldn't find the black belt I normally wear with this dress, so popped on my purple belt instead, and then decided on purple tights as well! As it was Christmas lunch at work today, I popped on my rather special ice-skating robin badge as well!

All ready for a day of Christmas shopping, with a pile of ebay parcels ready for posting!

4th Dressember 2011

The 4th day of Dressember already! Today is my Granny's 98th Birthday, and we had a family lunch out with her to celebrate :-) I wore this dress, which is sheer, with a little underdress. I popped on my burgundy tights for a change, and wore my rather comfy mary janes.

As it was rather chilly out I popped my trench coat over the top, with my lovely Blend scarf, and my rather "special" christmas badge!

I was rather pleased with this - it's a Christmas decoration from Accessorize, and I cut the hanger off, and sewed a safety pin on the back :-)

Kira decided to join in with Dressember as well today - I didn't realise how tall she was growing!

3rd Dressember 2011

Day 3, first casual dress of the season.

Dressember, and taking photos of myself again, has already had a big impact on me. After looking at the photos I have made a decision. I have decided, that whatever the scales tell me, *this* is my goal weight!

I have been struggling to get back down to my previous goal weight for ages, well, in fact, since my 40th birthday! I've not been a particularly strict dieter, but even when I was, I could get this far, and no lower. I'm about 7lbs heavier currently than my goal weight.

So I have decided that actually I think I look pretty dang good at the moment - and maybe half a stone lighter would be too skinny. So, as of this morning, I reset my goal weight!

and actually, I feel gooooood :-)

2nd Dressember

I bought this little gem from ebay earlier in the year - using my usual "no more than £5 delivered" policy, it was a bobby bargain :-) It's a little outside my comfort zone, with it's brown and beige bits, but I'm growing to like it :-)

1st Dressember 2011

Dressember is finally here! Why not click on the facbook link in the top left to see that fantastic array of dresses that have been worn by beautiful woman from all over the world!

This is my offering - I had a funeral to go to, so went for this somewhat understated black dress, with a touch of colour on the legs and sleeves.

Twas the Night before Dressember.....

Well, it was the day before Dressember, but that wouldn't relate to the lovely traditional Christmas story quite so well, would it!

To counteract the forthcoming month of dresses, I decided to go androgonous today!

Trousers: Next

Shirt and Tank: Sainsburys

Things are really hotting up on the Dressember front - we've been tweeting vigourously using #Dressember, and we've had a number of celebrity re-tweets :D

This is the fantastic new logo, designed by the very talented Alexandra King, and I'm so proud of the concept and the way people are joining in this year - I await to see how many people actually post photos tomorrow, I'm anticipating around 40, but there are nearly 600 people who have "liked" the page, and the chat is great! We are also producing pin badges in 5 different Alexandra designs, so we can identify other Dressember-ers if we pass in the street!

Is anyone planning on joining in? (even if just for a little bit?)

14th November - grey dots

I picked up this little Monsoon dress from eBay last week. I broke my usual "£5 including postage" rule, and splashed out £10.45 including p&p! It has no signs of wear at all, and I'm rather pleased with it.

Belt: stolen from Kira!

And to finish with today's gratuitous kitten shot - the lovely little Miss Frankie, engrossed in "Frozen Planet"

Are these pictures of my Mum, from 1977?

Or is it me, from a 70's themed party last night? :-)

Here's a clue for you.....

Frocking Friday!

It was Friday, I frocked, and I actually remembered to take a photo! I'm going to have to start using the proper camera again soon, the iPhone 3G camera really isn't very clever, especially in low light! Apologies!

I spent last night dusting off the dressember face book page as it's nearly time to Dress-Up for the whole month of December once more :-D. Click on the link if you're interested in joining in!

And, once more, with kittens....

27th October

Today I tried teaming the very girlie dress with the rather manly brogues. Not entirely convinced!

Please excuse the mess, R has a camping expedition this weekend and is busy packing!

And for anyone tuning in just to see cute kittens (who now have names! Benny is the tabby, Frankie is the tortie!)......

Not kitten heels, just new kittens!

No names yet, and we think they're a little girl and little boy :-)

Just like buses!

I don't post anything for months, then you get two posts in the space of 10 minutes!

This is a little snake print tunic!

And you can't quite see it here, but I've got a new tattoo!

It's my own design - it's two stylised butterflies, but designed to have one looking like an R and the other like a K - in honour of these two monkeys:

(shown here looking very smart on their first ever day of school together! There's a four year age difference, and this is the only year they will ever be at school together!)

Oh my, it's been a while!

I'm so sorry!

I love this frock - which I wore for Frocking Friday last week. I felt very "Sheila" in it - I think she'd appreciate the extra detail in the skirt on neckline :-)

Dress: Next (via eBay)
Top: m&s
Shows: Next (standing on tippy toes as I'd been wearing heels at work, but left them at work as I no longer park on site, so have a 10 minute walk, so I've got walking shoes to avoid destroying my shoes - and a big pile of shoes under my desk!)

Frocking Friday - Week 28! and a catch up

This week my biggest girl has been on work experience, and took the opportunity to raid my working wardrobe! She looked so much better than I do in my dresses I may not ask for them back!

Dress: Asda

On Tuesday I made the terrible mistake of wearing flats, and standing next to her in heels. I'm 5 ft 6 - she's about 5 ft 8, and still growing!

Dress: Monsoon - via ebay

Dress: New Look - via ebay
Shoes: New Look - gifted

and finally today was week 28 of Frocking Fridays, and I re-worked my tesco bargain dress. I felt very french all day - we had a dress down day to raise money for some girls at work who had cycled 320 miles from London to Paris in 4 days to raise money for MacMillan.

24th June - Inspired By Melody, Part 2

Earlier in the year my online friend Melody bought herself a stripey dress and wanted ideas how to style it. I coveted that stripey dress, but couldn't justify the £45 price tag in Wallis.

How happy was I to see this version in the Tesco sale for £8? Very!

Dress and Belt: Tesco

Frocking Friday - new dress!

I finally frocked on a Friday!

Even though it was dress-down day, I couldn't wait to wear my new-to-me-via-ebay Monsoon dress - which while it wasn't BNWT, I can't see that it's ever been worn :D (and it was a bargain!)

It's a lovely thick jersey, with two satin ribbon belts - the raspberry one pictured, or a plain black one.

22nd June - Inspired by Melody

An online friend of mine, Melody, decided to try the longer short look earlier in the year, and a couple of days later I saw these in Tesco, and for just £6 I figured that they were worth a punt.

I've tried them on several times, but never actually worn them out - mainly because they are just too big for me on the hips. Today I tried them with the longer top, which disguised the excess material on the hips, and Kira admired them (which is saying something - she's usually very sniffy about my outfits, especially if they're anything she would consider out-of-the-ordinary!), so out of the house they went!

Top: Sainsburys (sorry Sheila, it's a Cheater!)
