Frocking Friday - Spring Theme

Pleae rest assured I did sort my hair out after seeing the photos this morning!

We seem to be loosing a little bit of momentum over at Frocking Fridays so we agreed a "spring" theme this week - the weather has been unseasonably warm this week (19 degrees today - no coat required :D).

I failed miserably - it was dress down Friday at work, otherwise I'd have worn my black wrap dress with the yellow flowers - but I did wear a frock, and to make up for it's lack of springiness I wore a l'occitane perfume called "cherry blossom" :-) After work I even got my photo taken in front of the beautiful cherry tree outside of our house! Our street is lined with cherry trees, and it looks lovely right now :D (ours is definitely the smallest - always has been - I don't know whether it was a replacement at some point - the others are definitely more mature).

24th March - Denim Dress

This dress was a big hit during Dressember, and was voted (by you, lovely readers!) as the best dress from week 3 (which reminds me, I promised you a best of the best vote, didn't I?!).

I re-discovered it last week during a bit of a wardrobe clearout (2 black bin bags on their way to the charity shop!), and both girls said how much they liked it and that I should wear it again!

It's denim, so I'm not entirely sure it should be a work outfit, but I think it's smart enough you can overlook the fact that it's denim!

22nd March - Leopard?

Oh Sheila - you leopard temptress you! lol!

I picked up this on ebay last weekend, it was advertised as leopard print, but I'm not entirely convinced it's not more giraffe than leopard!

Anyway, I like it!

18th March - Red Nose Day

Dress Down day at work today, so forgive me for not frocking! (it's not like I don't frock regularly during the week :-))

Normally we just do the last Friday of each month, with money going to the hospital appeal, but we had an extra one this month for Red Nose Day (Comic Relief) - with a red theme.

Another birthday present here - some of my oldest friends clubbed together and bought me this beautiful swarovski crystal bangle for my birthday. Unforunately it didn't sit quite right on my wrist (and was also a bit "bling"to wear in the daytime, even for me!), and seeing how much they had very generously spent on me (they very kindly provided the reciept in case it wasn't quite my thing!) I decided to swap it for something that I would get to wear more regularly :-)

17th March - black and blue!

I've been so uninspired with my outfits this week!

Spring is just around the corner, and I'm hoping to be able to move to a more spring like wardrobe shortly - but it's still so cold here in the mornings!

Skirt and Shoes: Sainsburys

16th March - Sparkly Shoes!

First day time outting of my "sparkly shoes" today - I bought these on my birthday as my "emergency party shoes" in case the mega heels got too uncomfy (and they didn't, amazingly! - my feet did hurt at the end of the evening, but that was more becuase of standing chatting or dancing for 6 hours, rather than the height of the heels!)

Dress: TK Maxx
Cardi: Zara
Shoes: M&S (reduced to £10 from £25!)

15th March - Comfy Frocking

This really isn't my most flattering or most exciting outfit, but I'm so tired still after the weekend's activities that I just wanted something comfy for a day in the office today!

14th March - Red, Grey, and the perfect gift for a Frocker!

I picked up this skirt in Zara on my birthday shopping trip this week (just £5.99 on their clearance rail!), and tried it a couple of times last week with various tops, but just wasn't feeling it. Decided to give it one more whirl this morning with a matching tank over the top, and I think it worked :D

Tank: Sainsburys

Today was also the first wear for one of my many wonderful birthday presents :D Thank you very much to my fellow Friday Frockers - Jemma and Juliet!

Look at all those fabulous animal prints, in one dress, in an amazing resin pendant :D:D How much better can it get?!

12th March - Party Special!

Hey, I'm 40! I had a party! I wore sequinned zebra print!

I saw this dress in the Next sale at the beginning of last year - £40, reduced from £90. I tried it on, I loved it, I couldn't justify it - I had no events planned, and it was a little expensive and daring to just hang in my wardrobe!

So this year I was planning my party, and, as you can imagine, one of the top things on my list was to find a frock! I scoured ebay, and purchased a beautiful brocade strapless dress with a tulip bottom, in plain black. It's lovely.

Then, when scouring ebay (as I do on an occasional basis when I've nothing better to do!) I randomly typed in "Dress Next size 10", and up popped *the* zebra dress! 21 minutes to go, no bids, £15 starting price.

It was fate! and 21 minutes later it was mine, for the starting price :D:D

I felt amazing in it all evening - I glittered and sparkled my party away :D

Testing!

Does anyone know how to get photos lined up like I normally do them on an iPad?! I'm using blogpress, if that makes any difference!

10th March - Black and Blue!

Posting today from my new gadget - bear with me while I work it out!

9th March - Roaring Forties!

Well, that's it, I have arrived!

Fabulous at Forty (well, that's what one of my cards said anyway, lol!)

I had a fabulous day - lots and lots of wonderful pressies, a lovely relaxing day wandering round the shops by myself, shopping only for myself (other mothers out there will realise what an absolute treat this is!), then out for a family meal with S, the girls and my Mum last night.

The main thing I was shopping for yesterday were shoes for my party on Saturday night. I've got a rather *special* dress for the event, and needed shoes (the dress is so *special* it really doesn't need much accesorising!). I found these in Next - enormous platforms means that the heels aren't actually that high, resulting in them being really relatively comfortable (come back to me on Sunday morning on that one!).

For the meal out I decided to wear my new ebay purchase! I'd seen somebody on TV wear a dress in this fabric several years ago, and loved it - and, inspired by a lovely friend Sharon who sells beautiful handmade items in her misi shop, (and sent me a wonderful iphone cover for my birthday!) I did a quick ebay search - and this dress caught my eye! 24 hours later, and not too expensively, it was mine! (all mine.... evil laugh!)

The inspiring Iphone cover :D

And finally.........

My 40th birthday present from my wonderful husband :D

We bought this during a weekend away at the beginning of February, and aquamarines are (apparently, I didn't know it at the time - I chose it becuase it's very sparkly!) the birthstone for March.

Frocking Friday - Week 9

Another favourite outfit of mine today :-)

Dress: Dorothy Perkins
Belt: Brilliant Belts
Cardi: Next
Shoes: Clarks
Cheeky Child: Model's own (sigh!)

3rd March - Leopard!

Back to Sheila's Leopard week with a bang today - I do only have 3 leopard print items though - so after today I'm out of options lol!

I have to say I love this outfit - I fit snazzy and powerful in it!

Dress and Belt: Tesco
Shirt: Gap
Shoes: Sainsburys

After work there was a second leopard hit - my very favourite shoes - my Fearne Cotton designed converse Lo-tops!

I haven't done any "true" leopard as I "don't do" camel or brown - I like to think of my leopard print as more snow leopard :D

2nd March - Photo Fail!

Too slightly dodgy photos today, but the camera battery then went flat, so it was this or nothing!

I'm getting used to the lack of glasses now - you'll be pleased to hear!

If you want a giggle, head on over to Forever Amber, where the gorgeous and rather hilarious Amber describes how she has cut her own hair :-)
